Pastor Ryan Folken
Pastor Ryan's Bio
My name is Ryan Folken and I am honored to be a pastor at Louisville Evangelical Free Church. Grew up in the Waterloo, IA area before going to the Moody Bible Institute for my undergrad (1998), marrying my wife Joy (1999) and then finishing at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 2004.
Since that time we’ve ministered in four different states and in a number of different contexts (youth, Christian schools, secular work and then as a pastor). God has always provided us an adventure. We’ve had four kids, Sydney, Isaiah, Micah and Chloe, who are such a blessing from the Lord. We’re huge Chicago Bears football fans, transplanted Huskers fans, enjoying gaming (both video and board game varieties), as well as reading and studying. Joy finds great fulfillment as a homeschool mother as she instills a lifelong love of learning in the hearts of our children.
Why are we excited about LEFC? LEFC has an emphasis on the Life-Giving Practices (Truth, Prayer, Relationship and Impact) and how they function in the life of a believer as real foundations of spiritual development. It became clear to us that God may be wanting to use us at LEFC and after months of searching and process, we were called to ministry in November 2019 at LEFC.
Our heart is that of a biblical counselor, a discipleship facilitator, and an outreach catalyst. It’s by God’s grace we are saved and without Him, we would have nothing. We have been blessed by living according to biblical principles, and we feel called to help others grasp the massive life change God wants to make in their lives as well.
